Ingredients:
1 kg hog plum
200 gms jaggery
100 gms dry fenugreek powder
100 gms salt
100 gms red chilly powder
50 gms salt (for mixing)
1 tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp mustard seed powder
Asafoetida, oil as per requirement
Method:
Cut Hog Plum into 2 halves. Remove seeds. Mix little salt and keep aside for
overnight. Next day dry it with clean piece of linen cloth. Make a thin powder
of dry fenugreek in mixi. Remove it in big bowl.
Add the same amount of red
chilly powder, salt to taste, turmeric powder and pinch of asafoetida. Hit
little oil in fry pan, add mustard seed, pinch of asafoetida, two whole
chillies. Prepare seasoning. Let it cool.
Cut jaggery into thin pieces,
mix it well with above ingredients. Take Hog Plum pieces in a thali, add
little oil and mix them well. Then add masala prepared with jaggery. Mix them
well. Store it in airtight jar. Let the the pickle settle for a day or two.
Then hit oil in pan and let it cool. Pour the oil in hog plum pieces till it
get immersed.
